Now, I will talk about something which is a kind of serious topic (to the students and their parents of Class 6 and 7).
It is November, 2023 and we are suffering this useless education system which ensures that one day we will be like a Garments Worker or a Hawker. It is not like that I am disrespecting these occupations but this is the reality.
Our Parent's Opinion
Our Parents are like day and night scolding us, but what will we do? Do we have anything to do? Even our books are filled with such things that we know by birth and we don't have anything to study there.
Even, when we go to school, our teachers are telling to read, write and what is interesting is that our teachers tell to cut papers. What use of cutting papers?
Okay, till this I was talking from the point of view of our parents. But this is the reality!
Student's Opinion
Let me talk about myself. We, the students didn't get our books till March or April, I guess. I, a student used to buy a set of new copies after finishing the previous copies. But now, it is November, and I still haven't bought the copies of different subject. Because I haven't finished them yet. And what has replaced these copies? - A bunch of colour papers and poster papers which cost around 30-40 taka. We, as a student of Class 6 & 7 had to learn a lot of things. But in this curriculum, what we have learned instead? We have learned finding (a+b)^2 using paper folding. This type of formula has always been a useless things and now 3 colour papers of 3 taka each has been added to it. We are those students who are making poster and banner and protesting in their own school, no one knows why. We are those students who have been given a new chapter called 'Life and livelihood' and taught there how to bargain, how to cook, how to start a business etc. Now I have a question to you all. DID OUR PARENTS STUDIED ALL THESE TO LEARN HOW TO COOK OR BARGAIN?
I see that my father is capable of buying a 4000 taka coat at 2800 taka only. And if you just have the food cooked by my mother, you will tell - SO BEAUTIFUL, SO ELEGANT, JUST LOOKING LIKE A WOW! (Just kidding). My parents didn't need to learn these topics, they have learned all these by just observing. Observing is also a great mean of education, you know.
Common opinion
Till now, I have talked about the opinion of the victims actually. But let's see all these in general, in points -
Good Sides
- It is so-called কর্মমুখী শিক্ষা or Action Oriented Education.
- Students' behaviour is noticed and corrected.
- No need of Memorization
- No exam, no pressure, just chill, right?
Bad Sides
- Students aren't studying.
- They are on phone and laptop all day.
- They are just cutting paper, not learning any new things.
- The annual cost of education is increasing for buying poster and colour papers and other necessary instruments.
- It has become like that no one (not all) is doing their work themselves but are making them by somebody else.
- We are not being assessed properly by some teachers.
- There has become a vast difference between urban and rural students. Some are not getting their necessary items from stationary while some are not getting field to grow plants.
I guess these are some of the good sides and bad sides. But now my question is - Do you think the points that I mentioned in the good side is actually good for students? Our parents don't see any good side while the Government doesn't see any bad sides, right?
Okay. No more today! I have wrote a lot for the day. Bye!
